Beth Henry Elected Foodshare Board Chair

Avon Resident & Cigna Executive has served Foodshare since 2013

Bloomfield, CT

Elizabeth “Beth” Henry was elected chair of the Foodshare Board of Directors at the organization’s 38th Annual Meeting held yesterday in Bloomfield. A resident of Avon, Henry is the Vice President of U.S. Business Marketing for Cigna and has served on Foodshare’s board since 2013. She replaces Tom Buckingham who has served as chairman since June of 2017.

“I am honored to step into the role of Board chair for this amazing organization. Foodshare takes a holistic and progressive approach to addressing hunger and I am proud to help advance its mission to end hunger in the greater Hartford community.”

Beth has 20 years of experience in health care and financial services. She has successfully managed diverse functions in marketing, finance, underwriting, sales support and strategic planning. Prior to Cigna, Beth led brand and marketing for the Hartford’s Group Benefits Division. She also completed the management associate training program at Citibank.

“Beth brings a wealth of knowledge both to our board and to Foodshare as a whole,” said President & CEO Jason Jakubowski. “In fact, I’d even go as far as to say that her leadership has been absolutely critical in making us the organization we are today. Her passion for our work is infectious, and I’m eager to continue working with her in the years ahead.”

Beth has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bryn Mawr College and an MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business. She and her husband have four children and are active in their community.

About Foodshare

Foodshare is leading an informed, coordinated response to hunger in our community. Foodshare is the Feeding America food bank serving Connecticut’s Hartford and Tolland counties, where 127,000 people struggle with hunger. In partnership with the food industry, donors, community leaders and volunteers, Foodshare works to maximize access to nutritious food and other resources that support food security. Last year, Foodshare distributed nearly 12 million meals worth of food to a network of 300 local food pantries, meal programs, and Mobile Foodshare sites. And, because it takes more than food to end hunger, Foodshare collaborates with anti-hunger organizations, policy makers, and the broader community to build effective solutions to end hunger.

Foodshare is changing what it means to be a food bank. For more information, visit www.foodshare.org, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and Instagram.
